Liberia Scouts on Stamps, Tributes to Norman Rockwell


Since 1935, when Norman Rockwell painted his first picture for the Boy Scouts of America, 1928 and 1930 were the only years he failed to produce a Scout painting for the Scouts calendar or the cover of Boy's Life magazine. At the time of his deth in 1978 he had prepared fifty such illustration.

That Liberia should issue this series is appropriate, since Liberia was founded in the early nineteent century by freedmen from America. In return for to help President James Monroe gave in setting up their from of government, they named their capital "Monrovia".
